I started meditating for the first time when I began doing the S.A.V.E.R.S from The Miracle Morning that I wrote of in the last post. Meditation was a bit confusing at first but as I learned more about it I began to learn this is fairly common. There are many variations of meditation and I have tried many different ones.
Headspace is an app that I tried out. It has numerous guided meditation on breathing, grounding, body scans, and many more. I highly recommend it for it’s variety when first starting out. Also there are many 10 and 15 minute guided meditations on YouTube. I really enjoy Boho beautiful and as a bonus they also do many yoga videos for those of you interested in that as well.
I like to do 10-15 minutes of meditation every morning. I feel more energized and optimistic when I start my days out with a meditation. It definitely takes some time to get used to but don’t give up if it doesn’t feel like it’s working at first. It takes time and at first your thoughts will keep intruding and you will have to keep returning to your focus. This is normal and I like to imagine the thoughts as leaves floating down a river. When I catch myself thinking about an intrusive thought I think oh this must be on my mind. Then I toss it in the river and it floats away. Some people visualize clouds blowing across the sky.
Repeating a mantra is another technique that I enjoy as it fixes a thought in your mind, usually of an empowering or positive expression which stays with you throughout the day.
As an alternative to meditation religious people can spend time each morning in silent prayer or nature lovers can sit quietly in nature listening to the sounds of nature and smelling the deep earth aromas. I personally love meditating in nature as it feels like a deeper experience.
I hope you try out some meditation practices and until next time. Live kinder, more positive, and with more compassion!
